GRANT FOR DAVID ENNALS TO BARON ENNALS

Mnuscript for the Creation of a Life Peerage upon David Hedley Ennals to Baron Ennals of Norwich in the County of Norfolk, 1983.

An illuminated Grant manuscript, 22 x 16cm, on vellum, with attached 'Great Seal of England or Seal of Majesty", this 16cm. dia., and made of "thermoplastic" (originally made of wax),the seal is attached to the certificate with green cord. The seal depicts Her Majesty on horseback in uniform with crown & cypher below. The reverse shows the Queen throned and robed holding sceptre and orb. The seal and certificate are contained in a red leather case and the certificate is held in the lid by perspex . The case measures 59 x 45 cm. and has a carrying handle. Slight foxing to certificate.

Together with a "Writ of Summons to Parliament" document to "David Hedley Lord Ennals 9th day of September in the thirty-second year of our reign".

Baron Ennals, Life Peer (1922-1995) Politician, Labour MP for Dover was for many years Director of the UK Immigrants Advisory Service, Chairman of Anti-Aparteid Movement 1968-76 and a War Hero with Tito's Partisans. He served in the Home Office with James Callaghan, Minister of State responsible for Health in 1968 along with many other political appointments.
